Description:
The sequel to the hugely successful PS one title, Jade Cocoon 2 sees you take the role of the fledgling Cocoon Master Kahu in a strange world of Pokemon style monsters, floating space islands and cross pollinating warp gates. Kahu's mission is to battle his way across the four elemental forests, collecting, training and breeding monsters to fight the deadly parasite Kalma.

This is a 3D third-person RPG in the style of the Final Fantasy family. Kalma must explore his strange world interacting with the weird inhabitants including fairies, nomads and other Cocoon masters and completing the various quests they issue. The quests usually involve collecting items by overcoming some shadowy bad-guy and his collection of Tamagotchi minions. The combat system is a similar turn-based affair as seen in FF, with each player selecting a monster ally and an attack and unleashing them upon their opponents. Unique to JC2 is the concept of elemental monsters - select earth monsters to defend and fire to attack, for example. If you win, you and your creatures will get stronger and more powerful, but it's not until you start combining or breeding your monsters do you discover the big hitters in the Jade Cocoon league. If you're looking for a surreal, fantasy RPG in the style of Final Fantasy crossed with Pokemon it's probably time you hatched Jade Cocoon 2.
